Law Society of NSW Journal

Being invited to come aboard as a freelance writer for the Law Society of NSW Journal was an opportunity to expand my sphere of work into a sector in which I’ve not formally worked before. It’s been a fascinating exercise so far, and one that has brought me into contact with some interesting and passionate people within the legal fraternity. I cut my teeth with an extensive feature on my home town of Dubbo, featuring the newly established Drug Court and also showcasing the Western Plains Cultural Centre and its leadership role within the regional community. I also profiled accomplished local traditional Indigenous artist/weaver “Dandaloo Su”.

I’ve gone on to do profiles of lawyers who bring unique perspectives and experiences to their roles and communities; I’ve covered issues pertaining to the legal sector and wider society, and I’ve even been able to write my first ever book reviews!

Recently, I completed a feature on the remote far western NSW town of Bourke, and some of the challenges facing the community and region there.

The award winning Law Society Journal is a stunning publication – beautifully presented and published quarterly in hard copy form, as well as an online version.
